Vault - having trouble logging in. Forum is fine!

I cannot login to my Vault right now. After entering my master password just a spinning circle and eventually “unknown error”. I am patient since what I needed to do can wait for awhile. Just thought I would see if any others are having any issues???

Strangely I can log in here to the forums perfectly.

Edit: I went to a laptop running BW extension 2024.4.1 (from April) and my daily Desktop is running 2024.7.1 (from early in August). April’s 2024.4.1 opens my Vault instantly. Apparently I haven’t tried to access the vault from my daily machine this month until today.

FYI: daily computer is running a Mint 21.3 VM using FF browser. Flawless with all BW until today. Again, forum is perfect as is every other site I visit.

Hello,

  • Just logged in the webvault with a password. Worked for me from FF, Windows 11 Pro.
  • Most likely the forum server is totally separate from the BW server (even different IPs). One breaking doesn’t affect the other.
  • Try forgetting the site (clearing the cookies, etc.) to see if it helps. FF: Ctrl-H → Right click on the vault website → Forget about this site

Maybe I will look at this when I get home. My FF is always set to “never remember history” so it should be totally clear when I close the browser.

@OpSec I guess you have the login problems with the browser extension? (or the web vault and desktop app as well?)

Just today, new versions were released (desktop 2024.8.1 and browser 2024.8.1, though for the latter I guess “only” 2024.8.0 arrived on the browsers yet).

So I would also try to update the apps and extensions to the latests versions 2024.8.0/1.

And one thing to this: if your extension is locked and you unlock with the master password, then I would try to logout and then login again.

BW extension updated to 2024.8.0 and now the Vault is opening and working fine. FYI this is on a FF browser using linux in case anyone else gets stuck and they have the older version still!
