Vault access if server is down

Hello,
I’am thinking about disaster recovery for self-hosted Bitwarden instance. If my on-premises server goes down, is there any way to access my stored credentials? AI suggested to use Emergency Access Feature, but as i understood, it will work only if my server is up?

Other option was to create another user and jus sync passwords (but again, as I understood, no access if my server down).

Create another user and manually add password not an options, because I will need to remember to update psw in two places.

Any suggestion from bitwarden profs? :slight_smile:

No “Bitwarden prof” here, but just a few first thoughts:

The answer for disaster recovery is usually “backups” - and as I understand it, mainly backups of the hosted data, but probably using even the export functions of the vault additionally.

If you want to have access to your vault, even when you can’t access and manage your server (e.g. if you’re travelling and your server is down), then I would think of either taking the “vault” locally with you (like you can import a BW export into a KeePass(XC) database and use it on your devices) or temporarily using the Bitwarden default cloud (i.e. importing a BW export into a regular BW account).
