Using Bitwarden as Passkey store on Android phone

Hi

I would like to use Bitwarden to store (and server when needed) passkeys on a stock Pixel 8 / Android 15.

I have defined Bitwarden as my “prefered service” in the settings

Yet when trying to login (here to Kraken but this is not site dependend) the requested is routed to the Google store (which does not contain the desired Passkey).

/censured illustraiton as I am a low liffe enterprise user paying > 1k/$/y

What am I doing wrong ?

Hey there, this seems to be a limitation with Kraken support rather than Bitwarden functionality. Our team has previously flagged this, but you may want to reach out to the Kraken team as well.

@dwbit I think you are (also) referring to this: Kraken Exchange App Doesn't Trigger Bitwarden Passkey Login · Issue #4119 · bitwarden/android · GitHub

But I think, @AlexT didn’t limit his question to “Kraken”…

PS: As my Android 14 phone still can’t handle third-party passkeys :sob: I can’t provide much help here… @AlexT The only thing I can recommend (at least as a starting point), would be the BW Help Sites about using passkeys on Android: Autofill From Android App | Bitwarden

Hmm I will have to try with other sites but here the passkey is being indeed requested but the phone is using the built-in manager and not Bitwarden.
Is that not something supposed to work ?

@AlexT Which mobile browser(s) are you using for that on your Pixel 8?

If it’s Chrome (or a similar Chromium-based browser), did you follow the instructions given here: Autofill From Android App | Bitwarden ? (for e.g. Brave it would be brave://flags I think…)

Which version of the BW mobile app is installed on your phone?

In this case - as mentioned - I am using the Kraken (Pro) app.
Could it be app specific ? Hmm… will research further.
