Unlocking with Optic ID on visionOS is gone in version 2024.9.2

I’m using the iPad version of the Bitwarden app on an Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 2.1 and until version 2024.9.2 I had no problems with unlocking my vault in the app and the Safari plugin via “Optic ID”, which is the pendant of “Face ID” in iPadOS and iOS.

Since the last version 2024.9.2 this option is gone and I have to enter my master password manually each time, when I want to unlock my vault.

I don’t miss this option on my other devices: iPhone with iOS 17.6.1 and Bitwarden app 2024.9.2 and a MacBook Pro with macOS 14.6.1 and Bitwarden app 2024.9.0 (which is the latest here and it’s using “Touch ID” for the biometric unlocking).

The option “Unlock with Face ID” on my Vision Pro did even disappear from the settings in the app. I still can access this setting on all other devices I use.

I know, that there are probably not so many people using Bitwarden on an Apple Vision Pro – but there should be a lot using it on an iPad, which is the app running here on my device. And perhaps, there are some more users here with a Vision Pro.

Can anyone help?
Can and will this be fixed with an update of the app?
Is there the same problem with iPadOS and did someone find a fix for it?

Thank you!

This is irking me as well. I’m thinking making a github issue.

good to know i’m not the only one affected by this. i use my vision pro often enough that i may have to move to a different password manager (i’d rather not).

i think i found the culprit: ios/BitwardenShared/Core/Auth/Services/Biometrics/BiometricsService.swift at 59f4f6cfdf429df93ea87fea13e8aacff8448749 · bitwarden/ios · GitHub

“opticID” is treated as “none” (no biometrics at all).

I’m seeing the same issues still in late November. Has anyone submitted a ticket or created an issue?
