Unlock with biometrics on MacBook Safari stopped working. When I touch the touch id button, it seems to respond to it but no autofill or any error response, the authentication window remains blank.

I had the same problem after a recent update. Try to start the Bitwarden app and make sure Touch ID works there. I had to re-enable it there and biometrics in Safari worked again.

It seems like the Bitwarden app somehow disabled biometrics and the Safari extension (which relies on the app for biometrics) didn’t know which resulted in strange behavior.

It does work, but do I really have to do it EVERY app/Safari update? That is extremely annoying! And they have not fixed this issue seems like for 3+ years? I wouldn’t even be angry if I was not subscribed to the service…

I have not been using a Mac for 3+ years, only for some months. I wrote that because clearly the bug causing this is either reintroduced or it was never fixed.
I am not sure what do you mean by every app. This is specific to Bitwarden, or to be more precise, the Safari extension. The app itself can be logged in to via biometrics, but not the extension.

I was referring to the fact that you implied you were experiencing this issue “EVERY app/Safari update” (and also implying that there is some problem that has existed unaddressed for 3 years).

More likely, you have found a completely unrelated (and long-since fixed) issue from 2021 that coincidentally resembles some problems you are now experiencing. Since you have given no specifics about your own issue, it is difficult to tell what your problem is, but most likely it is related to the recent biometrics issue discussed in another thread, which is something that started in May 2024 (not 2021) and has already been fixed (and should be available in the next release).

If the linked issue is not what you are dealing with, then please start a new topic, and provide information about what versions of the Bitwarden app and extension you are using, accompanied by a detailed description of the issue you are encountering.
