I experienced the same thing. What fixed it for me was that my Bitwarden Windows app was locked. As soon as I unlocked it, the Firefox Bitwarden extension was able to retain the “unlock with biometrics” settings.
Tried everything over and over, deleted, reinstalled etc. “unlock with biometrics” will not stay checked. latest desktop app and extension running in Win11 and logged in.
Chrome has 2024.6.1 extension, Firefox has 2024.4.2
Only option I can get is unlock with PIN. I am premium subscriber if that matters.
Just got 2024.12.3 for Firefox, have 2024.12.1 app running in tray with “allow browser integration” enabled. Windows 11 24H2, Unlock with biometrics will not enable.
Dont know if this will help, but I had the same case with IE and Chome, and it only works if on the desktop the option “Ask for Windows Hello on App Start” is selected. If “Require password or Pin on app Start” is selected, the option on the browser always get unselected.
I got it to work finally, I think logging out of the desktop app and logging back in did something, not positive, just had to keep messing with it, now fills faster than ever using fingerprint.
Getting this problem on MacOS (Sequoia 15.3.1) with Firefox 135.0.1 and Bitwarden FF Extension 2024.12.4 and Bitwarden Mac Desktop App 2025.2.0.
When I try to enable the “Unlock with Biometrics” setting in the FF extension, it shows an error saying it is currently unavailable and then in the desktop app, there is this message: “Extension update required: The browser extension you are using is out of date. Please update it or disable browser integration fingerprint validation in the desktop app settings.”
Though, if I understand it correctly, if you deactivate “require fingerprint verification”, it should work… (see the last posts in the GitHub issue for more info to that)
That Problem seems to have been solved by the new Browser extension version 2025.2.0, actually for me it did work if I deactivate Verifying Browser Integration (or similar in english - mine is actually german).
But now for me it again does not work, jus sais its not activated in the Desktop app (but it is).
If I deactivate and activate again in the desktop app - it works - for once, then the same issue apears again.
