I’m encountering an error while trying to autofill on a specific website https://app.indy.fr/, I get an error saying that the extension is unable to autofill and that I should copy and paste credentials. That’s weird because autofill works correctly on other websites…
I tested on Firefox and Chrome on Mac OS. Is there something wrong on my end, or is the website incompatible? I noticed 1Password is able to autofill on this website though
Thank you!
PS: sorry if this is not the right place to ask such questions
I can confirm. Using a custom field with the label input-5, linked to the password, doesn’t autofill the password either via shortcut key, the “Fill” button, or “Show autofill suggestions on form fields.”
My apologies, I was wrong. The custom fields are in fact unnecessary (although they do not hurt), but to autofill this login form, it is necessary to first put the cursor in the “Mot de passe” input field before autofilling. Unfortunately, this means that the inline autofill menu will not work, because it steals focus from the input when the pop-up menu is opened. Autofill on page load also does not work (for obvious reasons). However, all other autofill methods should work.
Oh right it works when focusing the password input, thank you! Any idea what would explain this behaviour? This does not seem to happen on other websites
The typical answer is that that website developer coded the login page in a way that is hostile to password managers.
For example, I have seen sites that disallow pasting passwords, under the presumed theory that it encourages memorizing passwords, instead of storing them in a text file on your PC. Although this theory has been widely replaced by a preference for unique, random passwords for each website, some developers have yet to get that memo.
Yes, this very much looks like it. I can maybe reach out to this website support to ask for a fix if you know what could be the issue on the developers end
You could also consider setting up and using a passkey on https://app.indy.fr/, as they do seem to offer passkey-login. That might make the login more easy than using that login form.
