I’ve been following the requests for improving Bitwarden’s Notes feature and want to share a vision that combines the best of multiple systems.
The Core Idea: Give us a notes system that maintains Google Keep’s clean simplicity but adds true hierarchical organization with nested folders/subfolders. Think Google Keep’s interface meets Mila Note’s visual file structure.
Key Features Needed:
Expandable notes (as others have requested)
File-in-file organization (nested folders/subfolders)
Visual hierarchy that maintains simplicity
Future-proof foundation for advanced features
This would allow complete de-Googling of note-taking while providing organizational capabilities that current alternatives lack. Many users want pieces of this solution - let’s build the complete package that makes Bitwarden Notes the obvious choice.
I do note that Bitwarden is a password/credential manager; killing Google Password Manager (
), 1Password, Keeper, etc. seems like a more relevant goal.
I would suggest that people with extensive secure note requirements to look at the more relevant software category, like those presented in the Privacy Guides:
