The new interface has way too many steps! This is supposed to be a time saver but…
Previously, I had my Identities on the Tab page, so they were there when I clicked the icon. It was literally a two-step process:
Click BitWarden icon
Click Identity
Done
But now:
Click BitWarden icon
Click Type
Click Identity
Click the little tiny row of dots
Click Autofill
Done
How anyone thought this would be better, I do not understand.
There isn’t even a Tab page anymore, just an endless list of passwords, none of which I have ever looked for by scrolling. If I’m looking for a password, I’m typing it in the Search box. There is no point in doing it any other way. This is a mess.
Bring back the old way, or at least provide options to make the extension as useful as it used to be.
Sounds like your christmas present may be on the way:
2024.12.0 was released earlier this month and introduced the controversial new interface.
2024.12.1 was released about a week later, allowing one to re-add copy username, password, totp, buttons next to the “tiny” fill button.
Settings → Appearance → Show quick copy actions on vault.
2024.12.4 was released yesterday and still working its way through the various browser stores. It allows one to enable “click to autofill” instead of “click to view”. And apparently includes autofill identities.
I noticed that. After I had started editing, you moved merged/closed.
I did not move my comment to the new home because it does not fit in the context of “restore show cards”, but it does in this one, which is more “auto fill identities”. As luck would have it, the OP “liked” it, making me realize my effort was not in vain.
Check out the third link; as of 2024.12.04, identities apparently will be part of the auto-fill by default.
If you’re referring to this Reddit post, which references this PR, then it does not change anything related to to the display of Identity and Card items on the Vault page (compared to the current, nonfunctional implementation in 2024.12.3).
If I have misunderstood something, please explain.
Hopping in (and yeah, I also see that it get’s deleted in a few days), but actually I wondered about that statement as well. And the PR, @grb mentioned, is the only change compared to 2024.12.3:
