+1 for browser fingerprint support in Windows
I already shared this idea by mailing Bitwarden but just to take the temprature : do you think it could be useful to connect to the web extension and desktop version simply with our fingerprint ? (for those who have fingerprint scan on their laptop obviously)
I would like it, just for the usability. On the other hand, it is in fact not the highest security. Using a PIN would not lose much on the usability site, while still keeping the security high.
On the other hand, we already have this on smartphones, so we already gave that point away anyway.
Yes, I think it would be useful.
BTW, they also sell external fingerprint scanners.
You’re right I have to say and yes I was just thinking about the handy part of it. Well yes we have this for smartphone but for desktop version could have been cool too. Anyway you’re right PIN or master password still keep the highest security.
Ah. Actually the lack of this is making me uninstall Bitwarden and not move from LastPass. Shame, BW was looking great but I have a very complex password and log out all the time so need a relatively secure and easy access. Please don’t bombard me with answers re security of fingerprints: I consider it better than staying logged in for convenience. Give us the option and then we can each choose our own security parameters.
Fairly new user here. I was just about to post a question about whether bitwarden (pc app or web extension) supports USB fingerprint scanners, but I take it that it doesn’t. I’d love to have this option.
New user here, too. I’m quite satisfied with BitWarden, but I was wondering if the fingerprint reading for desktop users and browser extensions will ever be going implemented soon. I think this would be a great and important feature. Plus, if this will ever be implemented in BW, since this is a free open source program and the other programs/competitors only offer the fingerprint access as a premium thing, this will definitely be the killer feature for anyone that is looking the ultimate password manager. Please staff, can you do that for us?
Adding another vote for fingerprint sensor support in browsers (for me, Chrome, Win10)
It would be nice to have Windows Hello integrated into BitWarden to make it easier to log in with fingerprint scanners or with your face. Has this already been considered?
Agreed! Perhaps we need an umbrella feature request: support for biometric logins on Windows.

Fingerprint readers
-
Windows Hello fingerprint readers
-
Windows Hello facial recognition
Currently, Bitwarden does not support any Windows biometric authentication. Three threads are up now:
We should combine all these votes into one, IMO.
I would really love this feature as well!
I think if it’s generalized to FIDO2 webauthn, Windows Hello and other platforms (fingerprints etc) can provide a passwordless login.
(note, there is already FIDO2 2FA implementation, but not the passwordless implementation)
Adding my vote for Windows Hello/fingerprint support
Hi folks! (or should I say, Hello? ) - I’ve merged the similar topics for Windows biometric/Hello integration into this thread (votes were maintained).
PS - Thanks @DenalB for corralling the topics!
PPS - this is still on our investigation list for 2020 since Hello APIs may be available outside the electron framework now.
You’re very welcome @tgreer.
Please count my vote as well for Windows Hello in Bitwarden. This is my only real pain point.
Thank you very much for merging these topics! I neglected to realize some users had voted in multiple topics when calculating the above total (and combing macOS + Windows Hello), but that does make sense.
Somehow my vote hadn’t transferred, so I added a vote here, too.
This is a must have.
Say hello to Hello! Available for desktop apps today!
