Suddenly prompting to save all instances of email address (Save Login prompts)

Bitwarden browser extension for Microsoft Edge is suddenly prompting to save a new item every time an email address is present.
I have to create user accounts for our organization on various websites and every time I’m entering an email address I’m getting a popup to save. If I use the Share function in SharePoint, I get a pop up to save the email address I’m sending a file to. It’s very odd and a little annoying being that it has never done this before.

Hi there, are you seeing this primarily in SharePoint or other places?

You can also check out this Help Center article.

You can also block specific sites from triggering autosave notifications from the SettingsNotificationExcluded domains menu. Learn more in Block Autosave on Specific Sites.

It’s on all websites.

Thanks, can you drop a bug report or contact support with additional detail so the team can look further into what you are experiencing?

What I assume is a fairly recent update to Bitwarden has it offering to save or update login information on nearly every single site where I put my email address in, which is, most of the time, for petitions and similar, not actual logins. I don’t want to turn off the two settings involving saving or updating, because I do want those things to happen if I need them, but this is getting really annoying.

@somnomania Welcome to the forum!

This is probably best addressed by adding the sites in question to the “Excluded Domains” list (Settings > Notifications > Excluded Domains).

@somnomania Welcome to the forum!

This seems to also be a new issue with extension 2026.2.0 - so, you could also add your details to this bug report on GitHub:

Unfortunately, as it’s happening on so many different sites, it’s far less annoying to just ignore this behavior than it would be to try and add all the places it happens.

Then maybe the least annoying option would be to disable the feature altogether, and instead using a more reliable method when creating and updating logins (i.e., making the changes in Bitwarden first, and then autofilling the new information into the web form).

I tried to post in this thread: Frequent notices to 'Update existing login' / 'Save (new) login' with latest browser extensions

However, it’s been closed.

Unfortunately, this issue seems to have resurfaced. I’m getting notices not to update, but to save logins when I login to websites where I already have a username/password stored in Bitwarden. It is also occurring on sites where I use Bitwarden passkeys.

@southerndoc I moved your post into a very recent and corresponding thread. – See the posts above.

Thanks. My search abilities this morning were lacking. :slight_smile:

Reading through this thread, I’m seeing the behavior in a couple different scenarios:

  1. As an example, logging into American Express website using my Bitwarden-stored credentials with autofill, I am presented with an SMS text code. macOS allows this to autofill. The save login prompt occurs with both the field awaiting the SMS text code (prior to receiving it) as well as the next page when login occurs successfully.
  2. When visiting synoforum.com, when I mark threads as read, I usually get a prompt to save no credentials at all. I login with synoforum.com with a passkey stored in Bitwarden.

No problem. :slightly_smiling_face:

And if you can, best thing is to add your details to that GitHub issue. (bugs are tracked on GitHub)

Happening to me, all day long. “Save email”, “Save login”, etc.

FWIW, I’m not seeing the behavior with Firefox. Only Chrome.

That’s probably because the Firefox BW extension is still on 2026.1.1 and this “bug” seems to have started with extension 2026.2.0…

Well that certainly would explain it. LOL

I’m having the same issue. It happens after I save an invoice in Quickbooks or my CRM. Either have a form in it with an email that hasn’t even been touched.

Edit - I’m on Brave, and it looks like @anthony_S123 opened the bug. Thanks Anthony

I’m here because it’s driving me crazy in Edge.

Is there a way to rollback to the previous version?

Bitwarden has started asking if I want to save passwords all of the time when it’s not warranted. This is from https://www.agrian.com/ In this particular instance, I pressed the create work order button and the Save login message popped up. This behavior is happening often in many websites.
