Self-hosted - First login routinely fails with second/subsequent attempts successful

Hi,

I’m self-hosting BW, now on version 2024.8.0. This has been an ongoing issue since 2024.4.0 or earlier. Every time I attempt to login to BW from any of the clients, the first attempt fails for some unspecified error, while the second is successful. There are times that a manually triggered sync exhibits a similar issue, though that seems to have improved.

Current setup - Cloudflare tunnel > NPM > BW

I’m trying to narrow-down where to start investigating this error. Has anyone seen anything similar? Where are (or are there) client connection logs?

Thanks!

Hi @Jon_Truland ,
I have the exact same behaving/problem, with VaultWarden (Selfhosted Bitwarden)

As you also mentionned, I have a domain registered via CloudFlare.

Valutwarden/Bitwarden is an amazing solution! Worked like a charm, as long as I had it via portforwarding on my USG (UniFi). As I implemented it to go through my NPM (Nginx Proxy Manager) this application (Be it via WebUI, be it locally or via the ios APP) started getting an error on first connection only! Second attempt within a few seconds always works! It is, as you do specify, always the first attempt!

To be mentioned, that I have +/- 40 other apps going through the NPM. All do work perfectly, be it accessing them from the WAN, or the LAN.

Were you able to find a solution for this problem? I presume this is a specific NPM configuration topic?
Thanks for any pointeer you may have found;
