I once asked about Bitwarden and Passkey. To Login for Bitwarden i enabled 2FA via Passkey. The Passkey is stored on my Windows Computer, Security Key and Android Phone. With Android it was possible to save the Passkey directly on the device outside from Bitwarden because otherwise it would end in an “circular dependency” as it is mentioned in the post. In addition with android it is possible to directly select my mobile device in the 2FA popup on login. The android phone is getting the notification even if bluetooth is not enabled which also suprised me. To use it in the end bluetooth must be enabled. Now to the topic about iphone.
- I don’t know why the iphone can’t be selected in the popup. The device is connected via bluetooth to my windows computer. As already mentioned this shouldn’t particularly be necessary because my android phone is getting a notification even withouth bluetooth.
- For the iphone bitwarden is the default password and passkey manager. If i try to save the 2FA passkey from bitwarden on my iphone by scanning the QR Code i can only select bitwarden which in the end again would end in this “circular dependency” problem.
Is this all some android exclusive functionality the iphone is missing? I once saved the bitwarden password and passkey in bitwarden which after some research (Also mentioned in the post) i realized is a bad idea because if somebody gets access to the vault i can get completely locked out from my bitwarden account.
