Revert to older UI design

The new deisgn downgrade is terrible. I had routine and got used to one clicking for the password, username otp. Now it’s much more cluttered, and takes way more clicks to get the same usability feature. There are other ways to redesign without messing up the usability. This new redesign is destroying the product. Revert back. I don’t understand why companies try to fix things that aren’t broken. Bitwarden works perfectly fine, we don’t need these usability downgrades. The product is much less intuitive.

I haven’t got this update yet on Firefox, but I’ve seen it on Reddit and I also highly dislike it, I’m just gonna disable the auto-update.

Why all of this change?! The old UX was perfect! why make us do more clicks when everything was done with a single click?!

And another thing, why show all of the vault items on a single tab?! The way it was when it was just displaying the entries relevant to the current navigator tab was perfect once again!

I liked more when we had the choice to display all the items on a separate tab, this makes unnecessary too cluttered.

For me the absolute WORST part of this redesign is the every time I click on the plugin icon I have to wait 20-30 seconds for anything to show. It is literally unusable.

@bitstephen Are you on a Mac using Chrome? (Chrome extension takes forever to load UI after authenticating and is extremely slow and unresponsive)

Anybody who is here to vent and share experiences about usability issues may want to consider also posting in the feedback thread:

I am, but it seems clear that at least part of the issue is the new design loads all items (with no way to permanently filter) instead of previous design which would load type headers only and search. I have hundreds of passwords and the extension does not seem to cache them. I wait 20-30 seconds after clicking the icon for the screen to load, which renders the plugin mostly useless at the moment.

That 20-30 seconds were (in the mentioned thread) already reported for the now-old browser extension.

Perhaps, but i never experienced any delays until the new UI yesterday, so for me it seems very much related.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Oled Dark Mode for iOS/Android

My favorites are no longer sorting how they used to. And, I use my favorites all the time. With the new UI I have to scroll through (they’re not in alpha order) to find where the UI put them. I intentionally name my entries so I can quickly find passwords, but if it’s going to be in a random / created by / last updated order that’s useless to me.

Bitwarden has been a great password manager for me so far, everything worked flawlessly and intuitively. After the December update, it’s a nightmare, I have to do a lot more mouse clicks to do the same thing. Additionally, Bitwarden is now MUCH slower. Sometimes I have to open the extension several times because it takes a long time to load. It’s a disaster. It would be great if there was a switch that would let me go back to the old look. The WORST update in years.

You also have to think of users that rely on assistive technology and how they would reach a desired login with any changes to the UI. The new UI adds additional unnecessary steps.

To get to a login with the new UI (assuming already logged into Bitwarden):

  1. Click on ‘Folder’.
  2. Scroll to desired folder.
  3. Click on desired folder.
  4. Click on desired login.

Old UI:

  1. Click on desired folder (or first scroll to desired folder if many).
  2. Click on desired login.

Not saying get rid of the new look, just suggesting giving users an option as to what the default ‘Vault’ display is. Displaying ‘All items’ as the default doesn’t seem to add value, especially as users may have several hundred logins.

I 1000% agree. just sent a message to support with this exact issue. Don’t they test things out?

Have to agree. The new UI (which has just activated for me) is terrible. Here’s hoping for a full reversion to the previous UI which had absolutely nothing wrong with it from my perspective.

I just made an account to reply in this post.

Why would I want to see a list of my access information from the extension? Imagine I’m in a public place with people around me. Why should they be able to see that kind of information? At least add an option to hide it.

The old design was perfect and I wish there is a way to get back to the 2024.11.2 version and to not update the extension, ever.

I too made an account, just to provide feedback that I do not find any added value to the new design and it takes more clicks to get the same results and it takes more screen real estate to see the same thing. Really hoping they provide a way to revert back to the previous UI

Okay glad it wasn’t just me wondering if the extension was just broken because it wasn’t rendering right… only to discover it was an update and it for some reason looks and works this way on purpose??? I was about to submit a support ticket to ask for help with all the things wrong with this, only to discover it was a design choice. How embarrassing for the Bitwarden team. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

If there isn’t a fairly quick fix to these usability problems or a revert to the working version, I’m going to have to cancel my subscription and look to a different password manager. I won’t pay money for a product that is broken on purpose like this. Did you guys get your UI designers from Discord or something?

Agree with all of these points. The one click copy can at least be reverted using “Compact Mode” available under Settings > Appearance

@ryan4isu Welcome to the forum!

To restore the copy one-click copy icons, the option that must be enabled is “Show quick copy actions on Vault” (also under Settings > Appearance).

The “Compact mode” only has the effect of slightly reducing the padding and margins in the UI, so that a little more information will fit on the page.
