YES please, comming from LastPass i miss this the most, i want to enable “require Master Password” for (all) “Show Password” buttons AND on some sites (like banking/shopping ones), let me choose which sites “Require Master Password” before info gets filled.
PS: Also to require master password when accessing “Secure Notes”.
Still not implemented? Well at least glad to see it’s on your roadmap. When I checked bitwarden many months ago this was the thing that prevented me from switching over. And now that Laspass went bonkers it’s still the feature that makes me go to the alternatives.
Anyone who is arguing “ah this is a person problem not a security problem” is an insufferable di*k. “Ah if you trust a person to browse your computer that must mean you trust them with EVERY FINANCIAL ASSET THAT YOU HAVE” is just asinine logic.
I agree that this is an extremely important requirement. Without this, I need to lock Bitwarden EVERY time I leave my PC. I can also never allow anyone else to use the PC without first locking Bitwarden.
Some passwords are just too important to allow unauthorised access. Note that it is just as important to have a second level of security for other items in the vault as well. Credit card details and private files definitely need a second level of security.
This continued logging out and logging in is not only a schlep, it is a huge security risk!
I just started to play with Bitwarden and this is the first priority feature I was looking for, unfortunately it is a deal breaker for me. Once my device is left unlocked I would still need some websites / apps to be re prompt for passwords. “As a good example why” my children could play with it and purchase not intentionally anything they want.
Staying away from Bitwarden for now and hope it will be resolved in near future but as it looks like this post was started back in 2018 without any progress
Yeh not sure why this is still not implemented. Surely this is an easy feature to add and clearly something many people want.
Not happy with the “You should lock Bitwarden” comments as every password manager has this option and it’s just something that’s super handy to have. Not happy at all with my browser now always having my creditcards open.
Also came over from LastPass. Not a feature I currently need as I don’t leave the house, but I’m hoping that’ll change in the coming year, at which point it’ll be vital.
i’m really rooting for this, didnt switch over from LastPass literally because of this, but due to the recent stunt by LP, i’ve moved 2 days ago, and everything is so amazing (other than missing this vital feature)
also got premium for the TOTP feature, bitwarden has improved so much since i asked for this feature a few years ago, i really really really can’t wait re-prompt!
Glad to see all the former LastPass users chiming in. This is genuinely a top-tier security feature for so many users in multi-person households.
Thank you, tgreer, for believing in this feature request.
I’m not sure if it’ll be in the first release, but I’d like to add “and/or biometric authentication”. That is, biometrics already replace the Master Password for login, so for a re-prompt, biometrics could also be used.
Either way, very happy to see this OG and prominent feature request hit the limelight soon. I’ll finally get my votes back.
I was shocked that I could view and copy any passwords once I access my vault. Like my bank accounts! That would be a great 2nd tier protection. Judging by the date stamp of this request and among others, I am not sure if I want to stick around to see this happen.
As many others, since LP got greedy I came to bitwarden. This feature is the thing I miss most (Prompting to save passwords is the second). Hope it can be added for extra security. Thanks.
I think I am in the same boat as lots of people here as I am a recent transfer from LastPass since they announced the feature changes. The two issues I have with bitwarden are the “re-prompt” for certain items and a auto login icon. I feel that bitwarden should make it a priority to get these features implemented in the next few months (if possible) because as we can all see Lastpass users are coming to Bitwarden and are looking for these features. Also with the affordable price of Bitwarden compared to Lastpass there is a chance that these people (myself included) will purchase the premuim even though they may have had the “free” version of Lastpass.
