I have had Bitwarden for about 6 months now and all of a sudden it asks me to unlock Bitwarden in the password area of any website even though my extension is unlocked. It does not recognize that one is already open. The open one attempts to post the login info and another pop-up overlays that information and if I accidentally click on it when trying to pick the login pop-up it will ask me to unlock a new Bitwarden app. Is there something to turn on or off?
Are you sure it’s not the browser’s built-in password manager that’s partially filling in the field(s)? If it’s still active, that would explain why Bitwarden’s extension asks you to unlock it.
My open Bitwarden extension has already filled the field, the locked bitwarden symbol is next to the already filled field asking me to unlock the account. The extension is open and showing 4 logins for this account. I specifically clicked on the extension to fill this password field and this unlock still comes up.
Is the length of your password for that account equal to the # of dots in that field? Or is that some static “hidden password” text that Intuit is displaying (like “enter password here”).
What is your extension vault locking option set to?
Yes, it’s the same number of dots, and my vault is set to lock on browser shutdown. When I had my password for Windows or the system turned on, it was different from this one. I have not changed the ones in the system, and that is how I know it is the Bitwarden password in that slot. If I can log in, it’s Bitwarden.
This one shows both overlapping each other. The one under is the extension, the one on top is asking to unlock.
@JalehT Welcome to the forum!
In your browser, please go to edge://extensions/
. Do you see more than one Bitwarden extension installed there?
Yes, it did have 2. Finally, I have an answer. GO YOU! I have tested it on several sites, and the annoying pop-up has disappeared. Thank you!
You’re welcome — glad I was able to help!
