Receiving an error message while trying to authenticate with the Desktop App into an On-premise installation of Bitwarden

Hello Community!

I’m trying to authenticate with the Desktop App into an On-premise installation but I’m receiving the following error

I’m able to access the On-prem installation correctly in the configured URL (the same that I’ve specified in the Desktop App “Definitions” button).

Thank you in advance!

BTW, I’m perfectly able to access the server using the Browser extensions.

Hey there, can you confirm what version number you are using? Does removing and reinstalling resolve the issue?

@Jose_Raeiro Please also double-check which URL(ports?) you set in the settings (top left) before attempting to log in. Possibly just a small typo.

Hello dwbit!

I’m using version 2002.9.0 on the Desktop client. And, no removing and reinstalling does not solve the issue. I’m using self-signed certificates for the on-premises installation. Perhaps the problem resides there?

I’m using exactly the same URL that I’m able to access via browser. I’m using self-signed certificates for the on-premises installation. Perhaps the problem resides there?

Could you please have a look if any errors are shown on the console of the Developer tools (F12 or View-menu → Developer tools to open). It’s likely the self-signed certificates is the issue, but more info helps.

Indeed it appears that the certificates are the problem. Please take a look at the screenshot:

@Jose_Raeiro Please have a look at our help section regarding using and trusting self signed certificates.

Perfect! Was able to add the self-signed certificate to the trusted root certification authorities and now it works just fine!

Thank you for your help!
