basically, wherever you have enough screen real estate, just replace the drop-down choice with simple buttons…
in my example this was specifically for choosing the “type” of custom field to create. But as a general rule this can apply everywhere. (you already do it for the selection of characters for a password for instance)
The problem as I see it with replacing menus with radio buttons is that some users are very protective of their information density.
Incidentally, it does not really “save a click” in that one can navigate a menu with a sinigle click – mouse-down in the title; slide to the correct choice and then mouse-up, but I do get that radio buttons better surface details.
