Password generator slider

Hi,

I would find it more convenient and faster if it were possible to set the password length using a slider. Would this be possible to implement?

In fact, the browser extension had a slider before the UI update (Dec 2024). See this post and the following two posts there.

As I understand it, as the exact number of characters could not be typed with the old UI, the improvement is (with the new UI) that this is now possible. (Edit: typing was also possible before)

But, I really don’t get it, why the (then-additional) slider was removed. :man_shrugging:

Strange decision.
1Password has a very nice solution. Both work.

It would be great if Bitwarden could implement it in a similar way.

This is not an accurate recollection: the old UI allowed three ways to set the password length:

  1. Typing the value.
  2. Clicking :red_triangle_pointed_up:/:red_triangle_pointed_down: arrows to increment/decrement the value.
  3. Moving a slider.

Oh, you’re right - I just should have read my own post again! :rofl:

PS: I think I confused this with that feature request for being able to type numbers on the mobile apps: Type number for password generator length instead of or additionally to a slider (including +1/-1 buttons)
