Passkeys saved in Bitwarden don't work on Namecheap

I’ve saved a passkey for my Namecheap account but when I go to use it to login with, Bitwarden asks me to confirm if I want to use my safed passkey and I click to confirm it but then it just sits there doing nothing; no authentication occurs.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Can you clarify how you are using the passkey? To my knowledge, Namecheap does not support passwordless authentication using a passkey. It will allow you to use a FIDO U2F key for 2FA after entering your username and password, but they do not yet support FIDO2/WebAuthn. Passkeys use the FIDO2/WebAuthn protocol, which is probably why you can’t use a passkey for authentication.

There is a relevant Reddit thread here:

/r/namecheap: When will namecheap implement CORRECT U2F?

The funny thing is, Bitwarden saved it so you’d think it would work. But it doesn’t.

Alas, you’re probably right; Namecheap’s implementation is broken.

As per the Reddit thread, you may want to contact Namecheap support and ask about the status of the request that has the tracking number 80526. If you do, please report back what you find out!
