Do we have the ability today to export Passkeys from Bitwarden to external Passkey files (for importing into something else)?
No, they can only be imported back into a Bitwarden account. To my knowledge, the FIDO Alliance is working on developing standards for secure transfer of passkeys from one authenticator platform to another, but these standards are not yet available. Do you have information to the contrary?
No. Was just wondering. I believe other PW managers have (or at least it’s an option in the user interface) the ability to import from Passkey files, but perhaps that is just the framework being put into place before the underlying standards and technology is formalized.
I think those two threads are connected to each other, and since I just posted this in “the” other thread:
In the 2023 thread, OP was asking about “restoring the same vault on the same account”, which is already possible.
Please wear a life-vest while jumping – create a zip export of your vault and securely store it offline and long-term. And, don’t go deleting your Bitwarden vault until after you have confirmed that all your data is present in your new ride and that it works to your satisfaction, especially cards, identities, passkeys and shared collections, all of which 1Password does not import.
And, do know that if you find the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence, you are always welcome back.
@rtoledo2002, these generalisations aren’t useful to anyone.
Some info in this thread does not represent the current state.

Passkeys are contained in Bitwarden’s JSON export and ZIP export files (the latter contain a JSON file and the attachments).
-
KeePassXC can import those passkeys.

For someone who is on iOS 26+: the BW mobile app already can export via the new CXF/CXP mechanism (i.e. also passkeys) – to Apple Passwords at the moment only. (but that is not a Bitwarden limitation, but that of other password managers which don’t have a general availability here) → see here: Export Vault Data | Bitwarden

(I think there is similar work ongoing for the Android app, regarding CXP/CXF, but we have no timeline…)
There’s some question as to whether the passkey data are properly exported in Bitwarden’s encrypted JSON files:
