Passkey does not work on Dropbox via Safari extension

Hi,

Safari extension does not offer to log in with a passkey in Dropbox. Passkey exists. I can log in with Brave via its Bitwarden extension.

Is it something in Safari? I have just upgraded to 26.4 on Mac OS.

Mac OS 26.4

BW extension:

Versión: 2026.2.0
SDK: ’ ()’
Versión del servidor: 2026.3.1

Thanks

Victor

Is Dropbox listed as an “Excluded domain” in your Safari extension (Settings → Notifications → Excluded domains)?

PS: “Ask to save and use passkeys” is still also enabled in your Safari extension (Settings → Notifications)?

Domain list is empty. Never touched it.
I realize that Brave extension offered me to enter the passkey when focusing the email field at login. Safari just the email.

Yes, ask to save and use passkeys toggle is on

Ah. Then you probably want to enable “Show autofill suggestions on form fields” in your Safari extension (Settings → Autofill)!

Maybe I did not express myself clearly. My bad, sorry. In Safari the extension offers to autofill only the email but no the passkey. Autofill settings for both extensions are set the same

Okay, so, we are talking about this login page https://www.dropbox.com/login and using Bitwarden’s inline autofill menu, correct?

And there, you don’t get a passkey suggestion, like it can be seen here:

?

Exactly. this is what I see in each case:

Okay. What happens when you refresh the site?

Nothing. I mean the same behavior from the extension. Just to explain the flow better:
Since I am not being offered to enter a passkey I enter mu email. In the next page I see I could use a passkey

I click on it but Bitwarden stays oblivious to my click. Next page I see this:

I scan the QR code with my phone and it then uses its passkey stored. Finally I log in into Dropbox

Hm. Can you login to other sites with a passkey from your BW vault when you use the BW Safari extension? Or is only Dropbox affected?

PS: And I asked what happened when you refreshed the site, because I also sometimes experience that passkey suggestions don’t load immediately, but only when I reload the site. (I think this mostly also happens on the “first site” when I just unlocked the browser extension…)

I can login to other sites including site with passkeys like Amazon or Google. Refreshing the site does not help.
I forgot we have AI now, I am old school, Gemini says the reason could be the interaction between the way Dropbox implements Webauthn API and how Apple prioritizes its native password app in Safari. I don’t know if that’s the reason but sounds reasonable Especially when it only happens in Dropbox. I dont know if this explains why the passkey does not appear in the menu.
