for the ‘Autofill passkey notification popup redesign’ can we get in browser passkey on the same window similiar to if you use a security key, currently it opens in a seperate window. i attached screenshots to show this as well.
@pdsec, you want Bitwarden to copy Chrome in badly mimicking the functionality of a window manager? Why? If, for a reason unbeknownst to me, you merely don’t want window decorations, that’s possible without converting it to a non-windowed entity.
Irrespective, any alternative to an actual window has significant accessibility disadvantages, and offers literally no advantages that I can see (unless you elaborate on one).
it actually does have advantage when someone uses it in full screen mode, it switches screens for that operation when using passkey vs staying on the screen, i use to have issues with it but lately has been better, but overall it would help that workflow.
@pdsec, that seems like a problem with your window manager. Size-constrained windows spawned by the currently full-screen one shouldn’t create a new workspace (although I don’t use macOS, so perhaps that kind of insanity is standard there).
Irrespective, running an application in full-screen mode is a very niche use case. I can’t imagine recommending that the WM be bypassed merely so that you can use your desktop DE like an old version of iOS.
Having the modal window not be rendered by the WM would mean that a user who wants to see what they’re accepting would need to cancel the authentication sequence. This can be quite problematic during payments, etcetera.
@PDSec, I moved your post out of the roadmap, which is to announce/discuss features that are in current development and into a new topic in Feature Requests, so that people have a chance to vote on it and potentially increase its visibility.
When you get a moment, you might want to scroll to the top of this topic and add your vote to it.
