OTP in free version

I’m looking for a solution for my students, and came across Bitwarden.
I created a free account and downloaded the desktop version on my pc and the extension in Chrome.
The desktop version let’s me paste an OTP: otpauth://totp/Test:me?secret=[Secret]&algorithm=sha256&digits=8&period=60.
The login is saved, but no otp code is shown in the extension, nor the desktop.
When I edit the login, the otp string is still there, but is not processed to a code after saving.

Do I do something wrong, or is the free version not capable of OTP’s?

You will need a Premium subscription to use Bitwarden as an authenticator (I.e., TOTP generator).
