Notification pop-ups should not obscure UI elements

After copying a password/TOTP, a notification saying it was successful perfectly covers the User List drop down. I am already done with copying and pasting on one account by the time I want to change user, so I have to click to close the notification every single time. This is getting insufferable.

Easily solved by either allowing the user to move/set where it shows up, or just permanently set it to be in the bottom right by default where there are no UI elements to cover. Makes me wonder why it wasn’t done this way in the first place…

Yes! This is insanely annoying, and was surprised to see no way to way to disable that notification. What’s worse is that accidentally hovering your cursor over it resets the timer it’s counting down from - for no apparent benefit other than being in your way a bit longer and forcing you to click on the X to close it.

THIS

Allow the user to disable this, it serves no purpose, and whenever I try to copy multiple items, the notifications cover it up and make the extension unusable.

I’ve changed the topic title to be more general (old title: ā€œMove the ā€˜Password copied’ notification out of the way of user listā€; new title: ā€œNotification pop-ups should not obscure UI elementsā€) and changed the app: tag from app:desktop to app:all (since some of the comments refer to the browser extension).

My personal opinion is that all of these messages should displayed by the OS as toast messages (instead of being displayed by the Bitwarden apps and extensions as UI overlays). That would allow the user to hide/disable messages from Bitwarden, and it would reduce or eliminate the problem of notices obscuring the Bitwarden UI.

When you save or make a change in the browser plugin, a pop-up appears over the back button and it takes (what seems like) ages to disappear.

Can this pop-up be shortened and moved slightly down the screen please?

Error popup/notification in browser plugin blocks progress for too long.

Feature function

Too often, I accidentally search for and select a vault entry when I’m on the ā€œTabā€ tab (Tab mode?) when I should be on the ā€œVaultā€ tab/mode. When I select the entry in this mode, I get the notification ā€œUnable to autofill the selected itemā€¦ā€. This notification is modal, obscures the Tab/Vault/Generator/Settings bar, and stays up for 5 long seconds. It takes me about 250ms to realize my error, but I have to wait 4,750ms to be able to correct it. The best solution would be to make the alert non modal, and move it so that it does not obscure the action bar. Lacking that, the duration could be reduced.
Observed in extension version 1.46.2 in Firefox and Chrome.

I’d like to add to this. People say I’m a very ā€œfastā€ computer user and it’s very frustrating to wait for the green bar to fade away to be able to use the tabs below.

@Leo_Tohill @victorsouza Hi! – I merged your posts with this feature request to the same topic.

Hello,

Could you please move the success notification up a bit so that it doesn’t cover the search field?

MS Edge Version 137.0.3296.83 (Official build) (64-bit)
Bitwarden Browser Extension
Version: 2025.5.1
SDK: ā€˜main (c6835e5)’
Server version: 2025.6.1

Thank you.

I couldn’t agree more. Why does it need extra space? It doesn’t even have an undo button.

@Nail1684 thank you. I am glad that I am not the only one dealing with this annoying notification. I think that short update after button is clicked will be sufficient, for example change the clicked button for a sec to green check mark and than back to its default, that’s it. No annoying popups.

For example:

I came here to add my 2 cents to this too. I find this very annoying. There are times when I have see how fast I can click before the popup appears. This crap shouldn’t be happening. This is supposed to be a helpful program!

Regarding Notifications on Bitwarden Browser Extension on Chrome, Edge, etc

This has still not been fixed. And decreases usability / speed by a lot. In previous versions of bitwarden there were no notifications, and it worked perfectly. The notifications block the search bar, blocks when copying login items too quickly, or when trying to generate and copy many codes at once.

Please give an option to disable notifications, as it’s not as useful for advanced users as it may be for basic users. Have a toggle on off button in settings, so those that don’t need the notifications can just turn it off. At the very least make it only show one notification at once instead of two.

Want to ensure a bump for 2026. While I am a mega Bitwarden lover, I’m floored that there [seemingly] still isn’t an option to disable this or any other address since it was introduced. This is painful in the age of forced frequent re-auths and OTPs and magic links and MFAs bombarding the modern ā€˜net and web.

Agreed. At a minimum, clicking (anywhere) on the notification pop-ups should dismiss them — not refresh them.

Haha, that may be, but I’ll cut them a break. They have only ever been very good to me and the small-fry company I represent on our commercial plan (of course, it was suggested by me to my employer after having been a paid personal user for years, so I am biased :).

That said, the sentiment re: the disruptive notifications obviously still stands: WTF!?

I think there’s zero chance of this happening. I actually reached out to customer support as well, and they just told me to open a feature request (ironically, I had already sent them the link to this one ). Let’s face it - with only 7 votes, this is such a minor feature request with so that it’s highly unlikely to ever be considered.
