I had a notice in my desktop Firefox browser that I needed to update something in Firefox - or more specifically, the Bitwarden extension. I clicked on it, and now I’m worried that perhaps I shouldn’t have. Was this in fact legit?

Yes, Firefox extension since v2025.7.0 requires a new notification permission. I think this is so you can approve “Login by Device” requests from other clients.
I think it’s good that you are paying attention to the permissions, and picking the right tags may allow some people to zero in on your posts faster, but some members can fix them for you as well.
