New BW UX passkeys issue

I am using the new BW chrome extension (2024.11.9991) on ChromeOS. I noticed that ALL passkeys prompts from the browser were not showing or popping up, immediately get messages from website like “failed to register key” or “device not ready” and at first thought it was a Chrome issue because I didn’t even get the native prompts. I don’t have BW configured to handle my passkeys. If I disable the new BW extension or switch back to the old BW UX, passkeys work fine with showing the native prompts.

Anyone else experience this or know a fix?

First thing you should do now: delete that old beta extension version and install the latest release: the Chrome extension is currently on 2025.1.2.

I’ll give that a try. I force update extensions in chrome and it never updated, so I will try a manual reinstall.

Ok, this was a case of user error and failure to do basic troubleshooting. I was reliant Chrome was serving me up the latest and greatest. The issue appears to be resolved. Thank you!

Maybe… but maybe not completely… Bitwarden said at one point, that the beta won’t get any updates and that you manually have to change from the beta to the release app again. That could have been better communicated… Anyway, glad it works now.
