Moving items

Okay, so this is going to make me crazy. I have to think that surely there’s a way to do this. Seems like it would be or should be simple. I just want to be able to move things between an organization and My Vault. Specifically, in this case, I was using the desktop app on MacOS, where I created a bunch of items. I had My Vault selected when I created them, but for some odd reason it created them all in the organization. I didn’t scroll down to look at where it was putting the items because I was on My Vault and just assumed that’s where they would go.

So anyway I now have a bunch of items in the organization and cannot for the life of me figure out how to move them to My Vault. I am the administrator for the organization. I searched the forums and found some posts saying that you could clone the individual items but I don’t seem to have any clone function shown. I really hope I don’t have to delete all these entries and re-create them in My Vault. Any suggestions would be welcome! Thank you!

There’s no “bulk” clone function, but if you open each individual item, then you should see a “Clone” button next to the “Edit” button:

Your only other option is to export the organization vault, and import the resulting file into your individual vault (and subsequently purge the contents of the organization vault). Depending on what kind of data you have in your vault, you may need to use either a .csv format or .json format for the export file, and you may also need to condition the exported file before re-importing the data.

Thank you for your answer! If I could find a clone option, that would be sufficient, but I can’t even seem to find that. In the desktop app, I do have a clone button, but only in the My Vault items. As soon as I open an item from the organization, the clone button disappears. I’ve searched around in the web app, but haven’t been able to find any clone functions there. Past forum posts have said that it’s in the kabob menu next to the item, but it seems maybe the interface has been modified since then, as it’s nowhere to be found there.

Craig, it sounds like you’re looking in your own acct when you need to be working from the organization’s acct.

You said you’re the administrator for the organization, so login to the web app, then click on “Admin Console” at the bottom of the left pane. Then at the top of the left pane click the down-arrow next to your acct name and select the organization’s acct name. In “Collections” you should see your organization’s collections. Open a collection and the items should have a “Clone” option under the three-dots (“Options”) menu.
