I see the Readiness Kit is available in ODT format. Great! Is the ODT file the source for the fillable PDF?
I’d like to modify the ODT to make my own custom Fillable PDF.
I’ve opened the ODT file in LibreOffice and made changes. However, I can’t figure out which PDF export options are used to create a fillable PDF similar to the one posted on the website.
I received a reply through email but it seems to be gone now. The reply said
Yes, the ODT file is the source for creating the fillable PDF. To make your custom fillable PDF, open the ODT file in LibreOffice Writer, use the “Form Controls” toolbar to add form fields, then export as a PDF with the fillable option selected.
It appears the form controls aren’t included in the ODT file. Shouldn’t they be made available or is the end user expected to add their own?
I see. In other words, the ODT file isn’t exactly the source for creating a fillable PDF. Anyone wanting to edit the document for their own use must also add the fillable controls, or use a specifically designed form filler app such as MacOS Preview app.
