As I had warned back in March, the Discourse platform (which is the software used to run this Bitwarden Community Forum) has now been updated to a version that no longer supports older browsers. Therefore, to log in to your Bitwarden Community Forum account, and to make posts in the Forum, you must now use an up-to-date browser.
Specifically, if you use Safari on iOS, you must use iOS 16.4 or later; Firefox users must be on version 128 or later; Chromium browsers must be version 119 or later. If you use other types of browsers, you can check whether your browser meets the forum’s minimum requirements by using the following online tool:
In addition, if you access the Community Forum using a browser that is no longer supported, you will see the following banner text:
Unfortunately, your browser is unsupported. Please switch to a supported browser to view rich content, log in and reply.
Yes. Some users may be stuck with older devices/operating systems that cannot run the most recent browsers, so those users would be the most impacted by this update.
Well obviously Bitwarden is a security product and wayyyy OLD versions of browsers are exactly the opposite of that!! We should expect nothing less than BW requiring to be employed using a tool that is not as old as my Grandmother, LOL!
grb, I get the older device issues but in reality they are not up to muster in today’s internet. Sure they can limp along but they are too vulnerable — my .02
To be clear, this notice is about a requirement by Discourse for using their forum platform software, not any requirement by Bitwarden for using their security products.
