Emm… How? ![]()
@Mantas Welcome to the forum! I moved your comment into its own topic, as it was unrelated to the old thread where you had posted.
Please specify what operating system and browser you are using, and what version of the Bitwarden browser extension you have installed.
Also, please try clicking on the profile avatar in the top right corner, end then selecting the “Log out” option. When you re-open the browser extension after logging out, you should see a login prompt, as shown below:
If you log back in and subsequently lock your vault (e.g., click the profile avatar and select “Lock Now”), do you get the normal unlock prompt, as shown below?
Other things to try would include uninstalling the browser extension, clearing the browser data, and reinstalling the browser extension.
P.S. If you were using biometrics for unlocking, and especially if your Bitwarden account has no master password (e.g., if you use “single sign-on” login), then there is a known bug for which a fix will be available soon.
It’s the latest Chrome on MacOS Tahoe 26.1 with extension v2025.10.0 and server v2025.11.0
Yes, logging out and back in helped, but I believe this shouldn’t be the action you should take ![]()
I get the usual two options - log in with biometrics and log out. And this was the case for 3-4 days after I started using BW, but then suddenly that screen went blank (as in the screenshot). I’ll see if this happens again
Sounds similar, but I wonder if that’s the case. I didn’t get the biometrics unavailable note ![]()
In any case it works now and I’ll see if this happens again. Hopefully not ![]()
A few hours ago it worked and now I have exactly the same situation again ![]()
Re-login helped as couple of weeks ago, but now a few hours later I get the same thing again…
The “biometrics unavailable” tooltip note is what you would see after this bug fix has been implemented. It might be worthwhile to wait for the fix to be completed.

To allow us to troubleshoot your issue, it is very important to accurately describe what you are seeing (and to accurately follow instructions) — and for this to be possible, you must understand that in Bitwarden, then term “log in” is not synonymous with “unlock” (and likewise, “log out” is not synonymous with “lock”), these are two very different actions, that have very different effects on the state of your vault.
I assume, then, that the options you saw were in fact "Unlock with biometrics[/u] and “Log out”, correct?

When you log in to the browser extension, what exact method do you use? If you use multiple login methods (login with master password, login with device, login with passkey, login with SSO, etc.), please list all methods that you use.
Also, when you get this issue (missing “Unlock with biometrics” button), check if the Bitwarden Desktop app is still running, and logged in.
