Microsoft passkey login

Last month I set up a passkey on my Google account, and this works great with Bitwarden  Now I would like to do the same with my Microsoft account. But I’m not sure how to do this, and I’m not sure, if this is even possible. I get the feeling that I need to use something called Microsoft Hello. Who can enlighten me?
FYI: I don’t want to sign in my Windows PC, but I do want to read my Microsoft email account.
(I don’t understand these forum tags, what do they mean?)

Passkey login worked fine for me on microsoft live account recently using Bitwarden, if that helps.
You do select the “sign in with Windows Hello or a security key” option but the passkey is stored in BW not Windows Hello. I setup as a USB security key and BW intercepts the calls.

Where in the Microsoft website could you set this up?
I tried this link: Sign in to your Microsoft account
But it wants me to install a ms authenticator app on a smartphone. And I don’t use a smartphone

Click “Add a new way to sign in or verify”
then “use a security key”
then “usb device”

That’s not working for me :frowning: I guess I would need a USB key for that.
I was hoping to generate a passkey though this Microsoft site. But it wants me to use a phone and install an authenticator app.

You should select option:
[ Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key ]
Instead of [ Use an app ]

After selecting that option, it will bring the Bitwarden extension to add the passkey for outlook.

Looks like the issue is that MS only supports hardware keys for now. Software keys like Bitwarden are not supported by MS, at least not for corporate accounts. It MAY work for private accounts (the like of @outlook.com)
