When I update the selection in the password generator, it is remembered for the next time I open this window.
It would be great if the inline “Fill Generated Password” tool tip that happens on a new website would use these same settings, instead of the default random letter password.
@MichaelStanden Welcome to the forum!
Hm. Actually, this should already be implemented - at least the Help Sites themselves say so:
(–> Autofill From Browser Extensions | Bitwarden )
But we just got the confirmation from a BW developer, that it’s a “bug” for now (no timeline): Context menu password generation ignores parameters - #29 by jensen-af (and that issue was discussed earlier in that thread)
So, this can stay open as a feature request (as long as it’s not implemented) - but it could also be closed (as it’s a bug, that will eventually get fixed)…

@MichaelStanden Welcome to the forum!
This is a known bug that has affected the generator since the beginning of the year:

### Steps To Reproduce
Perform _both_ **Test A** and **Test B**.
##### Test A:…
1. Open Generator view in the browser extension.
2. Set generation option to **"Password"**.
3. Modify the settings (e.g., number of characters, character classes, etc.).
4. In the browser, use the right-click context menu option **Bitwarden > Generate password (copied)**, then paste the clipboard to examine the generated password.
5. In the browser, use the keyboard shortcut <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>Shift</kbd>+<kbd>9</kbd>, then paste the clipboard to examine the generated password.
6. In the extension, go to **Settings > Vault > Export Vault**, select the ".json (Encrypted)" format and the "Password protected" type, click the generate icon :arrows_counterclockwise: in the "File password" field, and then examine the generated password by clicking the toggle visibility icon :eye:.
##### Test B:
1. Open Generator view in the browser extension.
2. Set generation option to **"Passphrase"**.
3. Modify the settings (e.g., number of words, character separator, etc.).
### Expected Result
In _both_ **Test A** and **Test B**, the three generated passwords obtained in Steps 4–6 should conform to the settings that had been configured in Steps 2–3.
### Actual Result
_Either_ **Test A** _or_ **Test B** fails, such that none of the three generated passwords obtained in Steps 4–6 honor the settings that had been configured in Steps 2–3. If **Test A** works, then **Test B** will incorrectly generate passwords instead of passphrases; if **Test B** works, then **Test A** will incorrectly generate passphrases instead of passwords.

### Additional Context
This behavior is recent, although I do not know the exact version in which it started. My tests used a Chrome browser, but other users have reported the same issue occurring in other browsers, in [this Community Forum thread](https://community.bitwarden.com/t/context-menu-password-generation-ignores-parameters/80264/).

### Issue Tracking Info
- [x] I understand that work is tracked outside of Github. A PR will be linked to this issue should one be opened to address it, but Bitwarden doesn't use fields like "assigned", "milestone", or "project" to track progress.
Hi there
First of all, the issue : When generating a new password using the context menu or the option that sometimes pop under a password field, the generated password uses the default parameters (password, 14 chars, etc.).
I’ve been to the Bitwarden extension, clicked the Generator menu at the bottom, and changed the option for "passphrase, 4 word, cap words and addnumber).
Even with those parameters, the generated passwords from the context menu are still using the default p…
Closing this thread, because it is not a new feature (just an old feature that is currently under repair).
