macOS BW App not connecting to self hosted BW server

Hello everyone!
The Bitwarden app on macOS keeps defaulting to the bitwarden.com URL instead of my self-hosted URL (URL removed for safety). No matter what I try, it always reverts to bitwarden.com. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app, but that hasn’t helped. Has anyone found a solution to make the app use a custom URL? Any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

PS: the funny thing is, the Bitwarden App workes fine on my iMac and can connet to my server. the app an my MacBook is not switching to my URL?!?

Hey! I encountered an issue exactly as you described, and a completely clean reinstall of Bitwarden app solved it for me. Here are the files I deleted:

1. Bitwarden.app from Applications
2. ~/Library/Containers/Bitwarden
3. /private/var/folders/5_/SOME_LONG_STRING/C/com.bitwarden.desktop

The last location is different for every machine, but if you poke around in /private/var/folders, you should be able to find it.

To go to these folders, right click on Finder icon, and press “Go to folder” and type in the name of the folder.

After I moved these to trash, I reinstalled the Bitwarden app from the app store, and it started switching to self-hosted just fine.

Yes, this resolved my issue. I encountered a few minor challenges while deleting the com.bitwarden files, but it successfully fixed the problem.
