MAC OS X Permission To Access Date From Other Apps

Evening,

I am having an issue where every time I start Bitwarden on my Mac it asks me for permission to access data from other apps. I have recently reset my Mac and reinstalled all Apps. Previous to this reset, I did not get this message every time I started Bitwarden. Is there anyway of stopping this message from appearing every time?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I actually just did my annual Erase all Contents and settings on my Mac for 2025 to start clean for the year and installed Bitwarden 2025.1.0 via Homebrew and can confirm I’m able to reproduce this message as well.

The good news/workaround is you can suppress this dialog message by giving Bitwarden Full Disk Access in Privacy and Security Settings.

The bad news is what is Bitwarden trying to access that keeps tripping Apple’s privacy and security dialog?

Thanks! This stopped this message coming up for me

This shouldn’t be the final solution here - why does Bitwarden need to access data from other apps at all, or now suddenly without explanation? Giving something full access to the drive, if you don’t need to browse all folders with it, should be totally unnecessary. There are only a handful of apps on my system that legit need this (eg, a full disk scanner).

Hi everyone, we’re looking into this. In the mean time, the app store version shouldn’t have this issue.

Any update on this?

The above solution does work, but in the meantime, I’m sure Bitwarden will release a fix for this soon.
