Hello everyone! I tired searching for a specific topic about logmeonce and couldn’t find, but i do apologize if this questions has been answered elsewhere!
I downloaded the csv from logmeonce but when i uploaded to bitwarden, none of the passwords came. Any advice on how to import without having to do it manually? Thank you very much!
Occasionally, Bitwarden’s import tools may fail, because the .csv file exported by the other password manager (Logmeonce) does not have the expected format (e.g., something went wrong in the export process, or the other password manager has made changes to the format used for their exports.
To keep things simple (and maximize chances of success), I would recommend that you start by exporting only one part of your Logmeonce data at a a time (for example, under “Export From”, select only “Export Password Manager”, not the secure notes, secure wallet, or profile):
Next, please open the exported file in a text editor (e.g., Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on macOS), copy the first line of text only, and paste it into your response. The first line of text in the file should contain only column titles, none of your vault data.
After I see the column titles that were produced by the Logmeonce export tool, I can provide further instructions for how to complete the “conditioning” process that is required for importing into Bitwarden.
Thank you. Can you explain what type of data is contained in the columns named “group” and “extra”, and whether you care about preserving that information in the import?
OK, thanks. In that case, open the .csv file in a spreadhseet app (e.g., Excel), delete the columns group and extra, and proceed as follows.
Leave the name column alone, and rename the other four column titles as follows:
Change url to login_uri (all lowercase, and ending with an i, not l)
Change note to notes (all lowercase)
Change username to login_username (all lowercase)
Change password to login_password (all lowercase)
Create 5 new columns, which should be empty, except for the following column titles in the first row (all lowercase):
folder
favorite
fields
reprompt
login_totp
Now add one more column, which should contain the title type (all lowercase) in the first row, and the word login (all lowercase) in every other non-empty row.
Save the .csv file, and import it into your Bitwarden vault, selecting “Bitwarden (.csv)” as the specified import file format.
If your Logmeonce vault had any “Secure Notes” items in it, then please export those separately (by selecting “Export Secure Notes” in the “Export From” option), and again let me know what column titles are shown in the first line of text in the exported .csv file.
Logmeonce .csv exports for “Secure Wallet” and “Profile” data cannot be imported into Bitwarden, so you would have to transfer such information manually, if you have any.
A community member has already created a Pull Request with a potential fix, which I have given feedback on. It will likely still take a little bit for this work to be included in a release.
In the meantime I see @Nail1684 and @grb are providing excellent help, as always I may mention, on how to condition a csv for the Bitwarden format.
Looking at my comment on the issue, it might easier to just add the missing columns into your existing file. I’ll leave it up to you, if you’d like to condition the file fully and use the Bitwarden csv importer or the LogMeOnce csv importer.
Either will work, once the files have been conditioned accordingly.
I hope this helps with you migrating over to Bitwarden.
@djsmith85 Thank you for linking the PR (and for the kind words).
I’m confused by this. Did you mean the opposite of what you wrote — i.e., delete the 3 newly added columns (note, group and extra) from the LogMeOnce export, and then import using the “LogMeOnce (csv)” format?
That approach seems like it should work, but it would have the disadvantage of not importing data that may be available in the note Column.
