I just noticed about 75% of my logins were missing when I went to use the Chrome extension (on Brave). It showed only 126 of my logins when just earlier today there were ~500 or so. I checked mobile and saw the same issue. I logged into the web vault and finally found all of my missing logins under the “Unassigned” folder and only when clicking on “Admin Console” in the upper right.
How can I go about fixing this issue? I have used Bitwarden for 2 years and have never run into an issue. I can’t even find where to export these from the admin console. When selecting all and selecting the “Access” pulldown, I am given an error message saying I have not selected anything. Will I have to assign all of these one by one? Has anyone run into this issue?
We recently implemented some changes to make collection management more flexible for organizations. One of the results though is that items that belong to the organization but are not assigned to a collection no longer show up in your vault, and you do need to manage them from the admin view.
We’re working on an enhancement that allows you to bulk-edit items to make it easier to add these items to a collection in one go rather than needing to do it one at a time.
I have also lost about 75% of my logins - and Sam (from Bitwarden) has been trying to help me. Unfortunately I have not found the missing logins - even though there are a few in the Unassigned folder/collection. I have implored Sam to restore my Vault from any recent backup that you may have done BEFORE this recent change.
Thanks for your reply. But a change like this one needs some communication no ?
I’m on a Families plan and 80% of my identities are on an Unassigned collection and the only way to retrieve them is go to admin console and modify them one by one !
I was thinking to write a python to move them with bw CLI, but seems that “Unassigned” collection is not a real collection and all items in “Unassigned” collection are not listed in CLI. Am I missing something ?
Bitwarden released an update last night that allows you to bulk assign items to collections. You can learn more about the bulk assign feature here: Collections | Bitwarden Help Center
This is our resolution to the issue affecting a small percentage of organizations where items in the “unassigned” collection were only viewable from the admin console.
Thanks for the response. I am still not showing the “Assign to collections” option. Instead, I show “Access”, which just gives me an error message when I click it.
I lost hundreds of log/pass today because of your update… Can you explain what to do after pull every erased ones in a collection from Admin? I now have a collection with most of my logs but they still do not show up in the browser extension.
I now just want to get them all exported to go to a safer place.
This unannounced change is just plain nuts. How many hours of users time have you just wasted? And for what benefit? You just wasted an hour of mine and caused me an enormous amount of stress. My most critical passwords were suddenly gone. I pay for BitWarden to make passwords less stressful. This insane change just made my life more stressful. Did you get the message? This change should never have happened. If it did, it should have been communicated multiple times in multiple different ways to ensure all users knew about it before it happened. Crazy.
