Hello everyone!
I have tried various polite ways to figure out what’s going on but they seemed to fail, so I am here asking for second opinions.
I occasionally translate stuff (mainly from to Hungarian), and definitely try to help fixing typos and mistranslations. Today I ended up on Bitwarden - Web dashboard in Crowdin, and realised that the problem I was trying to fix is eerily familiar, and soon realised that I’ve been there before.
Short summary: there is a person who consistently mistranslates things, then - possibly using his own reviewer flag - approves his mistranslations, often against an already good translation. Some of the translations are just ugly (grammatically or stilistically) but some are complete nonsense.
I have written some notes to the project manager back then (@kspearrin
; months, maybe years ago?), and I realised that many people have done that and left without answer, incuding various red-flagged questions. (I don’t understand why; is the project on autopilot?)
And today I realised that said person (Varanka Zoltán (zvaranka60) – Crowdin) have rejected some of my suggestions without any comments, and kept his own (wrong) translations. [update: as I am writing this he responded to one question and “fixed” a “typo” (consistent error in multiple messages) I corrected instead of accepting my translation.]
I am not sure that a validator who validates wrong translations is better than no validator at all. I am validator in some projects and I rarely validate and approve my own translations if possible.
What’s the best course of action here? Seems contacting the admin doesn’t work, shall I try to ping all the managers one by one? Or it’s none of my business, shall I move on?
Thank you.
