Is it secure ?

Are there really no concerns about security? I think it’s not a good idea to entrust your data to a trial version.

Welcome, @timbu to the community.

I have no increased concerned about malicious code because the Beta version is being developed by the very same people that are responsible for the current production version. And both versions can interchangeably use the same vault, so I have no increased concern of data disclosure when the vault is locked, logged-out, or stored outside my machine.

But, yes, there is increased concern for data loss. Lacking a track record, one needs to presume a bug could corrupt the vault. The solution is simple. One should create a backup before running untested software (or making big/high-risk changes). And, for the duration of running the beta, one should increase their backup frequency.

There shouldn’t be a concern regarding security because the beta version is developed by Bitwarden’s developers. The app communicates directly with their API, so your passwords should be fine.

As for data loss, there’s always a possibility that it might happen with any beta software. There’s always a risk in using beta versions of any app, but I wouldn’t worry too much in this case, since the app automatically sends your data to the Bitwarden cloud, and is also accessible on the website (or released version of the app)
