One of the recent updates removed this feature. I’d like it back.
Previously, when I opened a note or scrolled down to the notes field for a login item, I could select text and copy it. I can no longer select text. When I tap and hold in the notes field, I just get a context menu to copy the entire field.
I could click on “Edit” and then select/copy text but that risks accidentally modifying the content.
Can the ability to copy a selected portion of the notes be added back?
When you create a password and write a note within it. On iOS you only get the option to copy the entire note. This is an issue when a person adds multiple types of items like recovery and backup codes. As now that user needs to switch back and forth from the Bitwarden app and to Safari just to add the one word or string of characters that they want.
So, as an example let’s say if I was creating a note and it read as:
“Security Question: thisistheanswer?”
As the way notes is implemented right now in iOS you can only copy the entire written note. So, let’s say the user only wanted to hold down and only copy “thisistheanswer” Well you can’t.
A workaround until this is fixed is to go into edit mode, which does allow copying ranges of text.
This is a recent regression, likely related to the migration to native apps for mobile. The link also does state that enchancing the mobile User-Experience (UX) is next on the list.
Not related to the mobile apps, but when attempting to copy text from custom fields in the Web vault app, the act of using the mouse to select the text activates the drag-and-drop functionality (for re-arranging custom fields). The only way to select a text snippet within a custom field (in the Web Vault) is to click at the start location and shift-click at the end location.
Yes yes yes to all of this! I noticed it in your most recent update and it’s HELL! we really need this feature back. Are you sure it’s not a bug as I can’t see the benefit of removing it? Please update it or I might need to switch apps as it’s ridiculous.
