When using Intune to set a compliance setting for Macs, the option to Block simple passwords is required to prevent people using 1234 or similar weak passwords.
In their infinite wisdom Apple have decided that having two consecutive characters the same also counts as “simple” preventing the use of passphrases that include words with consecutive characters. For example, beep, school, apple.
It would be useful if the password generator allowed generation of passphrases and passwords that meet this requirement, or rather didn’t suggest passwords that fail to meet it.
If this was just some random website with an odd password complexity rule, I wouldn’t raise this, but it is Apple and Microsoft that have made this decision.
