I’m having an issue with the Bitwarden Chrome extension where inline autofill suggestions appear in login fields, but clicking a suggestion does not autofill anything.
This all worked properly before. Previously, I could click inside a login field, Bitwarden suggestions would appear, and clicking the correct suggestion would autofill the username/password. Now the suggestions appear, but clicking them does nothing.
The issue is not that Bitwarden is failing to find the login. The suggestions do appear, but when I click one of them, nothing gets filled into the username/password fields.
System details:
- Chrome version: 149.0.7827.114 (Official Build) (64-bit)
- Bitwarden extension version: 2026.5.1
- Bitwarden SDK: main (e13c4fc)
- Bitwarden server version: 2026.6.0
- OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2, OS Build 26200.8655
What I’ve tried so far: - Uninstalled and reinstalled the Bitwarden Chrome extension
- Confirmed the extension is enabled
- Confirmed Bitwarden is pinned in Chrome
- Confirmed site access is set to “On all sites”
- Confirmed the vault is unlocked
- Confirmed “Show autofill suggestions on form fields” is enabled
- Tested with “Display suggestions when icon is selected” enabled and disabled
- When “Display suggestions when icon is selected” is disabled, suggestions do appear when I click into the field, which is the behaviour I want
- However, clicking the suggestion still does not autofill anything
- Ctrl + Shift + L does autofill successfully
- Tested on a WHM login page, so this does not appear to be only a banking-site issue
- I also disabled Google Password Manager, but that did not fix the issue
Because Ctrl + Shift + L works, it seems like the login item and URI matching are okay. The problem seems specific to clicking the inline autofill suggestion.
I have multiple logins for some sites, so Ctrl + Shift + L is not a great workaround.
Is this a known issue with the current Chrome extension? Are there any other settings, flags, or workarounds to restore the previous behaviour where clicking an inline suggestion autofills the selected login?
