Improve instructions for Bitwarden DuckDuckGo (DDG) integration

Where to report bugs related to the website?

@Aldo Welcome to the forum!

What is the bug? The Download now button should work as expected, if you are clicking it from a Mac computer using macOS Big Sur 11.4 or later. Based on the styling of the DevTools window in your screenshot, it looks like you might be using a Windows PC.

I believe @aldo is reporting is that clicking the “download now” button for the DuckDuckGo browser extension links to a page to download the web browser “DuckDuckGo for Mac” itself rather than the installer for the Bitwarden extension, as is done for other browsers.

But since that is not how Bitwarden is installed into DuckDuckGo, it might be better replaced with instructions for each of the DuckDuckGo platforms:

@dwbit , wondering if this might deserve a bit of :heart: from the Bitwarden webmaster.

If it didn’t change in the meantime, that integration is only available for Mac. (and since it’s not possible to install any extensions on DDG, on Windows there is no possibility to use the BW extension on DDG)

As the context of that link is the browser extension (which is implemented on Mac via the integration between DDG and the BW desktop app), I wouldn’t mention iOS and Android, as it’s also not mentioned for the rest of the browser extensions.

Thanks all, I’ve passed this along to the team to see if we can make it more clear!

The fact that browser extensions are not needed on mobile browsers is not uniformly known. Hence the reason I propose calling it out here (and perhaps elsewhere too).

@DenBesten No argument from me on that.

But then, are you proposing to even change the direct link to e.g. the Chrome browser extension in the Chrome store – and link everything to (another?) explanatory site that makes clear those extensions are not meant for “mobile” platforms, but only for “desktop”?

Yes, I suppose I would be. But, I am also open to any other page redesign that helps clarify which extension/app/instructions are needed for their particular combination of operating system and browser (if any).

Currently, it does a good job of helping one find what they are looking for, but could do better at helping one figure out what they need.
