Hello community
I recently created a passkey and thought that storing it in Bitwarden would be a good idea. I was wrong. Now I need to use the passkey to access a mobile app, and I don’t know how to do it. I should have done it in a USB drive but not knowing much about passkeys, I thought that they would work like the passwords and I would be able to use it in my mobile phones just like I use the passwords. The mobile app does not give me the option to create a new passkey for the mobile device. So it seems to me that I am stuck.
I moved your post into the forum section for Bitwarden’s Password Manager, since it doesn’t seem that your question was actually about the passwordless.dev tool suite for web developers (which is the product forum where your question was posted).
Using passkeys stored in Bitwarden is supported for the mobile apps, as long as your device is running iOS version 17.0 or higher, or Android version 14.0 or higher. What operating system do you have?
Additional configuration steps may be required (as explained in the documentation for the iOS app and the Android app, respectively).
Android 14: yes, required. But you can even have Android 14 and still have no support for third-party passkey providers. (the vendor has to implement that - e.g. on my Faiphone 5, though Android 14, I’m not able to use Bitwarden for passkeys)
Android 13, I am afraid. However, reading what Nail1684 has posted, it seems that I am screwed. I might need to get a new one and store it some USB stick or something like that.
