Host URI matching with custom port numbers not supported in Android?

Same here… (version 2024.11.7)
In my case, all the URIs use custom port numbers (not 80/443).

The issue of item detection on Android is all over the internet for years back (at least since 2022) and there is nothing to go by :man_shrugging:

Not in Github issues, Community posts, Reddit, nothing/nowhere.

To me, it seems that using a custom port number (more precisely having multiple items under the same domain using different ports) is not supported on mobile.
This is not documented anywhere or said explicitly by Bitwarden - I’m just assuming this since I don’t have anything else to go by.

The only responses you’ll find are:

  1. Links to documentation (style RTFM) that do not reflect/address this issue.
  2. Questioning why you need this supported? e.g. Maybe our use case (custom port number??) is outstanding and unique.
  3. Try the Beta version (since 2022)
  4. No responses at all
  5. Close issues due to inactivity or Git reorganization.

I don’t get it…

I’m about 8 years a Bitwarden user (self-hosted) and I loved it, but without modern client experience and the feeling of lack of support/communication/maintained-software, I think it’s time to checkout alternatives.

@Ben_Kaplan Welcome to the forum!

The Android app is out of beta, so I moved your comment into the the appropriate section of the forum. If you would prefer a different topic title, please let me know.

I can’t personally provide any advice, as I am neither self-hosted, nor a mobile user, but maybe having your post in the correct location will get some eyeballs on it. :eyes:

Sorry, I don’t appear to have the option to edit my posts (new user problem I guess)

I wanted to edit the previous post to admit I had skimmed over a very important note in the manual that clarifies the issue I’m having in IOS

Does anyone know if this is just an IOS limitation, or would it be functionality on the road map?

So just chiming in on this as I’ve run into the same brick wall using IOS apps both on the iPhone and iPad. All my URLs that share the same IP but different port numbers fail to automatch despite host match being selected as the default option as well as in each specific URLs settings, in the Bitwarden app for IOS.

This function works perfectly on my Macbook

I’m presuming this is a bug? Considering the option is available in the app

Or is this some kind of incompatibility with a self hosted Vaultwarden install?

@CraftyClown Welcome to the Bitwarden Community Forum!

It seems, you are using an unofficial server software, which is not supported by Bitwarden, as it is an independent product. From time to time, there will be compatibility issues between the official Bitwarden client apps (browser extension, mobile app, desktop app…) and an unofficial server product, when Bitwarden implements changes to its own server software and/or client apps. “…Bitwarden cannot guarantee that official clients will work perfectly with non-official servers.”

(Also due to this - and for other reasons - we recommend using the official Bitwarden server software.)

It is generally not possible for members of the Bitwarden community (users or developers) to help with such issues - and with issues of the unofficial server itself. Please seek support in their community spaces.
