So… now that I’ve convinced my mother to use BitWarden, and the only access she has to the email it’s configured with is from the password she has stored in BitWarden and despite her clicking that “no she doesn’t have access” several times, BW is now requiring her to use the 2FA she advised each time that she couldn’t.
How do I get her back in now?
Welcome, @SlingShotSuicide to the community!
The first thing to realize is that the upcoming changes are still upcoming, so they do not play a role in the problem at hand. Therefore, I moved this to a new topic so you get the appropriate undivided attention.
By chance did you create an emergency kit? The “recovery code” is needed to disable MFA. Emergency kits generally include this code. If you have the recovery code, you can use it per these instructions. Just be aware that using a recovery code results in its expiration, so the first thing you should do is update the emergency sheet, then fix/remove MFA.
2FA is only used for “login”. It is not used for “unlock” (what’s the difference?). If she has another device that is logged in, you should be able to export the vault from that device, delete her account then create a new account and import the data.
Do you have a reasonably current backup? If so, you can do the same thing, without needing a logged in device (and skipping the export bit).
