Generated Password is not being saved on Web extension

With the new updates it seems the Chrome Extension is not fully working.
I.E. I have been a member here, and needed to reset my password.
So I clicked to reset, then got the email, followed the link, and took the Bitwarden suggested password. I never got a chance to see or copy it as I got a Bitwarden icon instead of seeing it, and I never got the option to update. Yet I have the other problem of using 2FA it wants to update the same password after 2FA ie user> 2FA > password..

That suggested password you took, should be in the Generator history afterwards (go to the Generator in the main menu of the browser extension → scroll down → Generator history).

All fine unless you go there immediately, since it keeps several from the log-in. guessing game. 2FA is still an issue.

Many of us have adopted a different strategy … create/change the password in the vault and then autofill it into the website.

Here is the process I follow:

  1. Navigate to the website’s password-change page.
  2. Open the password vault and observe that the relevant entry is in the autofill section, indicating that the URL match is correct.
  3. Open the entry for editing.
  4. Copy the existing password and paste somewhere (notes field, notepad, etc) for safe keeping.
  5. Click the “generate” button and save the vault entry with the new password.
  6. Back on the password-change page, auto-fill the new password with control-shift-L and then paste the old password from the clipboard.

I do similarly when registering for a new web site.

The beauty of this process is that autofilling the new password demonstrates to yourself that it is properly stored in the vault.
