Frequent notices to 'Update existing login' / 'Save (new) login' with latest browser extensions

@mutilator I moved your post into the main thread on this issue…

Same issue here - keeps on asking to UPDATE logins that are already correct and working as they should!
Really, really ANNOYING!

It worked wonderfully with 1Password.

This behavior just started a few days ago for me. I’ve been using Bitwarden and FireFox windows for years, and this just started. When I use BW to fill-in the username/password, then hit login, BW offers to update existing login. It’s getting quite annoying.

When I turn off “Ask to update existing login”, the unwanted behavior stops. As this is something that started relative recently for me, I wonder if it was a result of recent auto-update. If there is anything I can post to help resolve this, please let me know.

@AllanM I moved your post into the current thread about that issue.

Bitwarden incorrectly prompts the user to save their updated password on both the community forum (here) and the Amazon Synchrony bank page (https://www.synchrony.com/accounts/?client=amazon).

It happened on Twitch on Firefox and then on Paypal on Edge.

This is happening since Bitwarden Extension Update 2025.11.0 now and I have no idea why this is happening.

I have never touched any of my Bitwarden notification settings.

Firefox: Version 145.0.1

Bitwarden Extension: 2025.11.0

Hello,

I merged your post into a related topic. I would encourage you to post your details to the bug report mentioned by the mod notice at the top as well.

One way to wait for the fix is to downgrade the extension back to v2025.10.0 and disable the autoupdate.

I don’t have a Github account actually.

It’s not a big deal. Just wanted to report it, that’s all!

To put things in perspective, this bug affects every login of every default configuration, will that be millions or billions of logins per day?

The github issue was raised 10 days ago, I really hoping for a hot fix.

@John1307 Looking at your screenshot, there is also an open GitHub issue for that: `8ef7951` renders `/notification/bar.html`'s entrants too short. · Issue #17588 · bitwarden/clients · GitHub

Yeah, I believe that’s what @Neuron5569 was referring me to already.

@John1307 Not exactly… The update notifications issue is to be found in this GitHub issue: update existing login · Issue #17405 · bitwarden/clients · GitHub (i.e. the issue of this thread) – but your screenshot also shows another issue: in that notification window, the entrants are too short, and that is to be found in this other GitHub issue: `8ef7951` renders `/notification/bar.html`'s entrants too short. · Issue #17588 · bitwarden/clients · GitHub

You’re right. Totally missed that one.

Strange new (bug?) after update to 2025.11.1 (51183)

Now a window pops up telling me, after using Bitwarden in safari,

my password(s) should be updated. When I do so the next time the window pops up again. This repeats itself for all my passwords endlessly.

@RoHo I moved your post into the corresponding thread to that issue (which seems to have started with browser extensions 2025.11.0).

Hi, I have noticed in the last few days that when I log into a site, Bitwarden asks me to update the record for that site. Has Bitwarden changed something, or has the app been hacked??

@Fastidge Welcome back!

I moved your post into the corresponding thread… I can not vouch for your device – but you can see that it is a current issue.
