First bug[s?] I have found

I have been using BW for a quite a while and never had anything I thought might be a bug - only a few trivial UX things that I was too lazy to mention . .

Just now I might have found one (or two?) bugs:

I was editing a Secure note - just adding a new line and re-arranging a few lines. I saved the SN and then went back to doing what had been working on - after a few minutes I found I needed the info in the SN and went to open it - but it had disappeared! I was using Brave and I thought there might be some issue with that so I checked in Chrome and Firefox but it had disappeared there too - I usually have all three desktop browsers open at once . .

I wondered whether the SN might be just not listed for some reason and the data might still exist in the vault - so I decided to export the data (I hadn’t done that for a very long time) - but every time I tried to export it would crash Chrome and Brave - but not FireFox . . I log errors etc but those lines don’t seem to help much eg:

Any ideas / suggestions?

I have recreated my SN from scratch now but I would like know what the problem[s] is/are . .

Thanks!

@philip_rhoades Could you clarify if you’re only talking about the BW browser extensions – or also about the desktop app? (as you seem to only mention the extensions, while you chose the tag for the BW desktop app – app:desktop)

Ah sorry - I misunderstood the tags - I meant only extensions running on desktop browsers . .

@philip_rhoades Thanks – and I changed the tag to app:browser now.

What might have happened with your secure note…: we would have to know more about your workflow for that. E.g. did you indeed click “save”?

For the export issue… I’m not quite sure – there was a bug report about exports failing from the desktop app: Can not export vault since Bitwarden 2025.12.1 running Linux Mint 22.3 · Issue #18358 · bitwarden/clients · GitHub And that was closed as a duplicate of Browser crashing when trying to download ssh key attachment · Issue #19137 · bitwarden/clients · GitHub because it seems to be a general issue with popups on Wayland: Popups not working under Wayland · Issue #9045 · bitwarden/clients · GitHub (which BTW also affects passkey popups on Wayland)

Though, now, I have my doubts about the “Linux Mint export issue” being a duplicate, as Linux Mint is not (yet) running on Wayland, AFAIK…

Anyway, if you are working under Wayland, your issue might be related to those (other) reports just mentioned.

If you think, your issue might be a separate issue, then please report it as a bug (“New issue”) on GitHub: Issues · bitwarden/clients · GitHub

A long shot — but did you check in the Archive (Settings > Vault Options > Archive)?

Nail1684,

I am pretty sure I did - I did think of that possibility myself - but even if I did forget, doesn’t that mean that the SN would be unchanged? - it shouldn’t disasppear . .

OK, I will look at those other bug reports and see how I go - and report back if I can find anything.

Thanks!

Phil.

@philip_rhoades Did you see my question above?
