Hello, it’s been more than one month since the extension stopped working in Edge. I am only getting this after the loading circle animation. Same result with 2025.1.0 and 2025.2.0. Tried re installing, re-enabling, deleting, etc. Is there anything else I can do? Thanks!
@pmaz101 Welcome to the forum!
I moved your post out of the UI/UX feedback thread, as you are describing a bug.
And your post sounds a bit like this: Browser extension just spins after unlocking but as you didn’t emphasize “spinning for a longer time”, I made this separate thread for now.
So, what is your Edge version?
And you speak of extension versions 2025.1.0 and 2025.2.0. I think the current version is 2025.2.2. Did you try this one?
After deinstalling, did you also already try to delete the local data of the app, before reinstalling it?
If you are experiencing the “spinning circle” (see the other thread I linked above)… clicking somewhere else and trying to re-open the extension (re-clicking on the Bitwarden icon) also doesn’t help as a “workaround”?
PS:
What’s that supposed to mean? - Does it sometimes work and sometimes not?
Thank you for your response.
I am not able to get to the password prompt. The extension shows only the spinning circle animation and then after a while a blank screen when I click on the extension on Edge.
I followed your advice of deleting the local data of the extension, but the folder is correctly removed when uninstalling it.
I also tried checking the Edge Console of the extension. I only see this error repeated.
No state version found, assuming empty state.
console-log.service.ts:45 Waiting for migrations to finish, waiting for 8192ms
Edge version is:134.0.3124.66 (Official build) (64-bit)
Extension version: 2025.2.2
Hm, did you try another browser (if only just temporarily and for testing) like Chrome/Brave or Firefox?
Yes, Chrome extension works as expected. The Bitwarden Windows App also works ok. I am using that in the meantime, but it is really a pain not to be able to use the autofill feature.
Okay, then it looks like a problem related to Edge… I would delete cache in Edge now, and if that doesn’t help either, “reset” Edge… when de-/reinstalling of the browser extension makes no difference.
Edge → Settings → Reset settings (I think before you execute that, you are shown what will be deleted - so make sure you save that before)
Thanks again, I did an Edge reset, enabled only bitwarden extension. Same problem.
Hm, right now, I’m not sure how to proceed… or what could be done further (especially because even the initial load of the extension fails and you don’t even reach the point where you can enter your BW login credentials, if I understood correctly)…
Maybe someone else chimes in…
Generally, you can contact Bitwarden support. And/or make a bug report (“New issue”) on GitHub.
Thanks again for your help. Maybe someone has another idea, I will contact support.
Clearing local storage is my only insight, but I do see that has been tried.
For what it’s worth, I am able to use Edge. Here are the versions I used in testing:
- Edge 134.0.3124.68 (Official build) (64-bit)
- Bitwarden Edge Extension 2025.2.2
- Windows 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3476)
- Bitwarden Desktop 2025.2.1 (only needed if using biometrics)
Just an additional comment.
I manually installed version 2024.12.4 from here: GitHub - bitwarden/clients: Bitwarden client apps (web, browser extension, desktop, and cli).
and it works ok. So, if the issue is with my Edge install, it only happens after 2025 versions.
